When I lost my dad at 19, I didn't understand that grief was a process.

Looking around, particularly at the women in my family, I thought strength meant persevering on and suppressing emotion. What I learned is that I might not have been actively managing my grief but it was manifesting itself through binge drinking and overeating. Those things weren't problems but byproducts of what was really going on, my lack of feeling to heal.

Grief isn't reserved solely for the death of a loved one. Grieving can occur when a relationship ends, a job is lost, moving, mourning a version of yourself that doesn't exist anymore.

There are times when our feelings can be so overwhelming that it's difficult to verbalize them. That's where free writing comes in. I use this tool with my clients to help work through emotional blocks that are keeping them stuck in a place they don't want to be in.

What I've learned through my different grieving processes is that I was never ready to do it. I don't know what ready feels like but what I do know is that you don't need to feel ready in order to embark on this journey.

Felt Write’s Purpose Is To Support You On Your Path Of Self Exploration And Freedom To Be.

Felt Write Is Personalized Based On Your Needs And Wants. Every Meeting Will Be A Different Experience Based On Goals We Set For Our Time Together. Not Every Person Processes And Learns The Same And It’s Important That I Cater To The Way That *Feels Right* To You.

I work 1 on 1 to honor the individual and what best supports them. We co-create the experience.

You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.

Hey, I’m Emily!

I am the life coach for the Emotionally Intelligent Woman.

I help women process grief and create joy in their lives.

I started Felt Write because I wanted to support women in knowing that grief doesn't have to freeze you in time but can be a powerful catalyst into making profound change in your life.

I went from suppressing/not understanding my grief at 19, to being overwhelmed by it at 29, to then understanding that this is a universal human experience.

Grief can feel overwhelming and isolating without knowing how to let it exist within your being. I will show you how to be with your grief as you navigate your life forward.

Even though grief is something all of us will experience, how we go and feel about it will be personal. When I didn't connect to the 5 stages of grief, at first I thought there was something wrong with me but as I learned to be with my feelings, I realized that there isn't a one size fits all solution. The greatest work I've ever done to date is teaching women how to be with their grief in a way that is most caring for them.

Grief is tremendous, but love is bigger. You are grieving because you loved truly. The beauty in that is greater than the bitterness of death. Allowing this into your consciousness will not keep you from suffering, but it will help you survive the next day.
